Selon cette longue update publiée sur le site officiel de Pain of Salvation hier, le second volet du double album Road Salt, symboliquement surnommé "Ebony", devrait finalement sortir début 2011, et non pas cet automne comme il se murmurait auparavant.

As usual when updates and news pieces are scarce, it is an indication that a lot is happening behind the scenes for the band. And that’s good, so we hope that you have all rejoiced about the silence here on the site
Anyway, what have we been up to? Well, the album was released a few weeks ago and hit the charts in several countries, even in Sweden (which has got to be the most cold hearted country in the world when it comes to honoring their national artists). Reviews have shifted quite a lot, with quite a few “album of the month” (even some “album of the year”s) around the world and, here in Sweden, mostly luke warm reviews that in many occasions have been more of observations rather than reviews. The most correct (and amusing) review we received here in Sweden sharply concluded “This is not metal!” Which, of course, is correct. Neither is Queen, The Beatles or Faith no More. We fail to see how that is in any way a disadvantage, especially since we have never claimed to be, or want to be, metal. We still thank the reviewer though, for having straightened out any possible question marks that might have been floating around until then. Good job!
I (Daniel) was on a five week long tour with Transatlantic, as many of you know – I saw quite a few POS fans in the crowds both in America and Europe. Thanks for coming there and being supportive. As a result of this prog soaked trip, the songs on our next album will be even shorter and to-the-point than the ones on RS1
We have changed our booking agent to Jörg at Dragon Productions and picked up a collaboration and friendship that began a few years back with the “BE” tours of 2005.
Daniel and Pain of Salvation have tried their best to put a silver lining to magazine shelves around the world by being on the front covers of several music magazines. We still wait for the nude centerfold spread offers with anticipation.
We have re-opened the Road Salt Two songs and started some new recordings for the album, which is now scheduled for an early 2011 release. We like what we are doing a lot, and we look forward to presenting this piece to our fans.
Plans and production preparation for this autumn’s Road Salt tour have started. With Scarsick we decided to go rock’n'roll and straight forwardly put music in focus by “just playing”. Now we seek ways to stretch back to the innovative drama and emotional depths of the “BE” production without losing the Scarsick rawness and bite, all while celebrating the brave originality of Road Salt. Now, wasn’t that poetic, say? The first batch of tour dates will be published here on the site in just a matter of minutes!
As usual, I (still Daniel) have received a lot of offers about collaborations left and right, and hopefully I will find time to go through with at least one of them. It all depends on how much site updating and news publishing and blogging I need to submit myself to. Again, rejoice at the silence!
Finally, where did the Melody Festival here in Sweden take us? Well, we did hit the single charts, the album charts, the Tracks charts and even the Svensktoppen charts. Not bad (read: impossible) for an uncompromising band like us! In the end, I (yes, Daniel) am still most happy about the #3 placement in the online voting contest “Most F**kable Man in Melodifestivalen 2010″. Why? Well, isn’t it obvious? That was the only placement that was better than we deserved! I can but take a bow to the two men who won over me (Måns and Edward, I bow to thee), for it was well deserved. Hey, there were many hunks placing below me! In the music charts, however, it was more like winning #3 in the contest “Best looking guy in class” just after class mates Danny De Vito and the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Harder to cheer then. Instantly makes you question whether your own perception of reality is slightly (or more than slightly) out of kilter. Yes I know, my Facebook friends already heard that joke, but with the amount of unique hits on this site, I guess not every visitor is my FB friend after all.
Other things we got from the Melodifestivalen, apart from the immensely joyful ride: the #1 most visited artist on Snowfish out of all artists (due to the fact that we actually have fans outside of Sweden); signing autographs in Sweden, mostly to young kids and their mothers, which is super cool; better service from the guys helping me (you know who by now) with plumbing and electricity.
The sales page is up and working after the server emigration, and we plan to make some RS1 merch in the future so stay tuned! “Stay tuned”? Did I just type that? Wow, better quit before I start writing things like “Be there or be square!”…
Wet kisses,
D-Pak Chutney |
